SmartShopIt Shopping List
This is a powerful Shopping List designed to help you determine the best items to buy and the best price(s) to buy them at. The items listed are added through one of three ways to add items to this list:
If you are unfamiliar with these methods, you can click above to get help. Let us briefly explain what the SmartShopIt system did with the items you selected.
- For any product(s) selected via Browse Products or Favorites, SmartShopIt searches its vast price database and calculates and displays the Smart Buy Price range, My Best Price and average price for that item.
- If you selected a category, SmartShopIt searches all items in that category and selects the one with the best Smart Buy Price range.

For any Tag selected, SmartShopIt searched all the products associated with that tag and selected the one with the best price in your area. You will that product listed with the same key price information as above. So if you put in ‘apple’, it will look at all items that have the tag ‘apple’ and find the one that has with the best price. (In this case, it may be the best price per pound.)
If you also select ‘organic’ as a Item Type tag, it will limit its search to the apple tagged products that have the organic type tag associated with it. - For any entry that is not a tag or category, SmartShopIt enters it as a Keyword and searches the product database for any items containing those keywords. From those items, SmartShopIt calculates the best product with the best price in your area and displays that product.
The price calculations are either done by Lowest Price (LP) or Best Value (BV). You set which of these you want in the My Profile area under Basic Info. The Lowest Price method searches for the lowest priced product regardless of size. The Best Value method looks for the lowest price per unit of measurement (UOM) such as the milk that has the lowest price per fluid ounce (Fl. Oz.). This usually results in larger size/quantity items selected and is better for larger families/groups.
The result is a great list you can print and take to the store or access via your mobile web device while at the store.
Shopping List Features
There are several other things you can do from this list.
Search Name
By clicking on any item in the Search Name column, this will bring up the Add Item panel and allow you to change the product, category or keyword.
Lowest Price & Best Value Switch - The products are selected via a lowest price or best value method. The default method used is set in My Profile in the basic info panel. You can change the search method for a Shopping List item by clicking on the BV 
or LP 
icon. The Best Value (BV) icon is displayed if the current item was select by the Lowest Price (LP) method and vice-versa.
Product/Category Toggle – This toggle 
allows you to switch a Shopping List item from a category look-up to product or product to category. If you currently have a category selected then the product displayed was based on the pricing information in the SmartShopit database when you created the list. That may have been days ago. If you refresh (see below) the list, then this item may change due to new price information. Let’s say you now want the specific item that was initially selected. This toggle allows you to now set this item as a product look-up and therefore the specific product will not change.
If you have a specific product set but now you want to see if there is a lower priced item in the category, then toggle this to category and the SmartShopIt Shopper will look for the best price in the category.
If you have Best Value as your calculation method then the products will be selected using this method.
Product Selected
This column displays the product selected using the calculation methods described above. You can click on any of the products and the Product Detail panel will appear showing you detailed information.
Coupon – If our SmartShopIt Shopper detects a possible coupon for this product or product category then the Coupon 
icon will be displayed. By clicking on this icon, we will display the coupons that may match this product. This works by matching the words in the product you selected with all the words in the coupons in our database.
Favorites – If you want to place this item in your Favorites 
list then click this icon.
Smart Buy Price Range
This is calculated using all the prices for this product in the SmartShopIt price database. This is displayed using a good buy range. If you find the product within this range, it is a good price and SmartShopIt recommends you should buy it. Prices in black are local prices. If the prices are in green then SmartShopIt doesn’t have any prices in your region yet and is showing prices we have nationally. Enter a price to begin building a price database for your local region.
Click on 'What’s This?' in the column header to learn more about the Smart Buy Price range.
My Best Price
If you entered prices for this product then the lowest one will be displayed. Knowing the lowest price you've paid for an item will also help you to know if a price you see at the store is a smart buy.
Average Price
This is the average of the prices in the SmartShopIt database. With the Smart Buy Price range, My Best Price and the Average Price, you will always be able to make a smart buy decision.
Enter Price
This column allows you to enter prices you paid for these items after you’ve gone shopping. You can enter them while you’re shopping via the mobile web interface. You can also enter prices, even if you’re not buying the product, so you have a record of these prices for future reference.
List Management Options
Refresh - If you created this list a few days ago and are ready to go shopping. New prices may have been entered. Click the refresh list icon 
to update the list with any new information.
Quick List – Click on this link to bring up the Quick List for this Shopping List.
Browse Products – Click on this link to bring up the Browse Products panel.
Add From Favorites – Click on this link to bring up your Favorites list.
Remove Items – Select the items you want removed from the list, and then click this option.
Copy Items – Select the items you want to copy to another list, and then click this option. A pop-up will appear and select the list to copy these items to and then click submit.
Move Items– Select the items you want to move to another list, and then click this option. A pop-up will appear and select the list to move these items to and then click submit.
